Apple

Coming from a photo-journalism background, I once fawned all over Macs, too. Until I got one of my own that froze and crashed, just like PCs. It's just a damn computer. Anyway, interesting article for those obsessed with Mac, or those who find the obsession curious. It's really all about marketing and PR, after all.

Hat tip, the agitator, as usual.

of course i did!
no, not really, but i did think of you while i was reading the article. i posted because my own experience with apple wasn't all everyone else's seems to be cracked up to be. and my friend's ibook crashed about a month ago. so there was a lot of reference in there.

True - Apple is definitely on to something with their marketing/sales force. I have never worked with bigger pieces of absolute crap than the Macs I worked with in the computer lab I staffed in college.

I too have had trouble with the Mac. But I have to say this, as graphics machines they are the Ferrari's of the computer world. There's no denying that. I do find it funny that they seem to be able to create the midis touch with everything they put out though. I didn't buy the ipod (first gen) when I was looking for MP3 players because I had a feeling something might go bad, and it did (the first gen ipods operating systems were crap). Which is not to say that the subsequent versions aren't great, I'm sure they are, but everyone and they're brother makes them, probably just as good, they just haven't achieved cultural icon status. The more I look around and see people plugged in to their little white boxes with they're little white earphones, the more I get the creepy 1984 vibes...
